Audio Recording Project

We consider that creating this task was very funny and entertaining. Taking into account that we just had the activity in a written way, recording our voices was not something really difficult but useful and enriching. We learned how to use some applications to join all the audios as well as having a good intonation and rhythm in terms of our pronunciation when recording this assignment. We think that this is a great idea for showing our students different resources, we mean, authentic material that was created by us.

           At the zoo!                             (speaking activity)
Introduction: This activity is for second grade, the unit is called : At the zoo!. The pronunciation items are: zebra, snake, salamander, salmon, sea turtle and zookeeper.
The activity consists of looking at pictures and make up sentences.

It is important to mention that the warm up was already developed, the content was presented and the class is in the Gagne’s step number 5 (elicit performance).

T: Now you have to form pairs. Are you ready?
S: Yesss
T: I will give you the instructions, so pay attention: you will receive six pictures, three for each of you and what you have to do is to look at the pictures and make up sentences, what is to “make up” sentences? To create sentences!
For example: In this picture I see a lion in the zoo and in the other picture I see a bear in the zoo. So, do you understand the instructions?
S: Yes miss!
T: Okay very good, so here you have the pictures for each pair and you have to take turns. You will have 7 minutes to do it. Ok, let’s work!

(While the students are working the teacher is monitoring their work)

S1: In this picture I see zebra in the zoo.
S2: Yeah!, in this picture I see a salmon that … Miss, how do you say ESTANQUE?T: Fish pond, darling.
S2: Thank you. In this picture I see a salmon in the fish pond.
T: Very good job!!!!!!!!!!

Another pair:
S1: In this picture I see a zookeeper in the door.
S2: I have this picture and I see a snake in the zoo.
T: Well done my kids!

Conclusion: The idea of this activity is that students identify the vocabulary items (saw in last classes) and practice the sounds /s/ and /z/, as well as creating sentences and interact with their classmates.
